Project Description

Sima power plant combines two station which generated a total amount of 3,113.2 GWh per year. Lang-Sima has two generating units with 500 MW installed capacity and a height of fall of 1,065 m. Sy-Sima has also two generating units with total of 620 MW in- stalled capacity and a height of fall of 905 m.

Purpose/Application

Norway has a perfect landscape and enough water to generate almost all its electricity out of hydro power. Hugh differences in height between mountain and fjord as well as their huge number of available lakes have been combined in Sima power station.

 

Unique Aspect

Sima station is the second largest power plant by installed capacity in Norway. Biggest part of the station is not visible inside the rock. The plant combines two station which have their sources out of several lakes, which leads to a huge tunnel and shaft system of

61.3 km.
