One of the largest wind farms in Latin America is made up of 3 wind farms of 102 MW each (Oaxaca II, Oaxaca III and Oaxaca IV) that can produce 1.129 GWh annually, which is the amount of electricity capable of covering the consumption of some 700,000 Mexican homes

Purpose/Application

Energy consumption of surrounding communities and the creation of several social welfare projects carried out by the company ACCIONA Energía with people from the region, including programs for reforestation, education and vocational training, the improvement of local infrastructure and the promotion of self-employment initiatives.

Unique Aspect

The wind farm complex was installed in a region of high speed winds, which forced to plan the assembly based on very short periods of time to take advantage of the 'windows' of low winds. This complex was built by the leader in wind energy in Mexico, ACCIONA Energia, with 556.5 MW distributed in four parks - the three from the mentioned complex and Eurus (250.5 MW).
