Project Description

It is the largest dam on the Danube river located on the Iron Gate gorge, between Romania and Serbia. It is one of the largest hydro power plants in Europe now upgraded to the current capacity of 2249 MW.

Unique Aspect

It is a little bit unusual to see one dam which produces power for two countries. It is one of the largest dams in Europe and the largest on Danube river.

Future Plans

The Serbian side is planning on building a new, smaller power station, called Iron Gate III.
