Project Description

During its operation, it consisted of 4 units each producing 1000 MW, thus giving 4000 MW as a whole. It was completely decommissioned in 2000 after reactor # 4 was destroyed in the 1986 disaster.

Unique Aspect

Reactor # 4 was the site of the Chernobyl disaster in 1986 and the power plant is now within a large restricted area known as the "Chernobyl Exclusion Zone". The Chernobyl accident, was a catastrophic nuclear accident.
