Project Description:
This is a regional plant which uses biomass for production of heat, electricity, biodiesel and biogas, as well as electricity production by solar PV.
Purpose/Application:
Electricity, heat, and biodiesel production.
Unique Aspect:
It uses waste from households, restaurants, agriculture, and wood industries, mostly from the region of Mureck. The plant produces no waste as the final sub-products are used as fertilizers. The population is strongly involved since part of the investment comes from locals.
Future Plans:
It is an example of rural economy and sustainable development, as well as a positive use of biomass. Murecker energy park contributes to saving 54,000 tons of CO2 each year compared to fossil energy use.
