Project Description

It is an Open Cycle Gas Turbine power station being constructed, which uses natural gas to generate electricity. It is the first phase of a 1500 MWe IPP facility located on a 100 hectare site and will be commissioned in 2018.

Purpose/Application

The plant site is close to Nigeria’s biggest gas distribution pipeline and has “unique accessibility” to the country’s high voltage transmission network. It will help with the power crisis of Nigeria.

Unique Aspect

It will provide a major milestone in the power sector from a generation perspective in Nigeria.

Future Plans

After the construction is finished, it will operate to generate electricity and Phase 2 of construction will begin.
